After Darwinian theory emerged and became more influential in the late nineteenth century, it gave impetus to various ideologies and movements that devalued human life. It provided fuel for eugenics and euthanasia and also supported scientific racism. Hitler embraced a form of evolutionary ethics that blended eugenics, euthanasia, and scientific racism together, producing some of the worst atrocities in the twentieth century.
