Endoparasites (helminths, protozoa) typically have 2 or more hosts. During the life cycle parasites transition into very different morphological forms. As such, the parasite must immediately physiologically adapt to totally different environments as well as overcome dissimilar host immune system attacks whether (for example) gastropod molluscs (snails), Diptera (flies), or vertebrates.
