Biography
Joe Deweese earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from Freed-Hardeman University in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University in 2009. Joe Deweese is Professor of Biochemistry and Director of Undergraduate Research at Freed-Hardeman University where he has been since 2021. He has taught biochemistry and molecular biology for over 16 years having previously taught at Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy for 12 years. He has been actively engaged in research along with his teaching, and he has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in his field. His research has focused on the molecular machine topoisomerase II.
Dr. Deweese is also active in sharing his faith and his research at churches, schools, universities, conferences, and in writing for faith-oriented publications. He has been married to Liz since 2002, and they have two children.
