Biography

Timothy Clarey earned a Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. (summa cum laude) from Western Michigan University, and a M.S. from University of Wyoming, all in geology. In between his degrees, he worked for nearly a decade as an exploration geologist for Chevron. After obtaining his doctorate, he spent 17 years as a professor at a public college. He has published numerous articles on the geology of the Rocky Mountain region. In addition, he has written and/or co-authored six books, including Carved in Stone: Geological Evidence of the Worldwide Flood and a college textbook called Earth Systems, both published by ICR, and Dinosaurs: Marvels of God’s Design, published by Master Books. He currently works for the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) in Dallas, conducting research on Flood sedimentation patterns across the globe.

Dr. Clarey grew up in a conservative Baptist home in Michigan, accepting the Lord as his Savior at 7. Fortunately, God gave him the opportunity to hear Dr. Duane Gish of ICR speak several times while a college student. Dr. Gish encouraged him immensely by showing geologic evidence for a young Earth; things Dr. Clarey was not hearing in classes. All the public colleges, and many Christian colleges, teach only the secular story of geology. He was refreshed to hear the other side from a Ph.D. scientist no less.

Dr. Clarey is now serving Him in ministry with ICR and praising Him as his personal Savior. He is using this opportunity to conduct much needed geologic research. His studies are showing a profound match of the rocks and fossils with the Biblical account. Dr. Clarey’s books and presentations allow him to share with others that true science confirms the Bible.
