A.S. in Science, B.S. and M.S. in Geological Sciences, Ph.D. in Earth Sciences and Environmental Sustainability

Dr. Petersen was the Education and Outreach Program Manager for the EarthScope National Office from 2012-2015. She has also taught at several colleges and universities, including Mesa Community College, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Grand Canyon University, and as a teaching assistant at Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University. Sarah has been involved in geophysics research with Dr. John Baumgardner using Terra 3D software to study catastrophic plate tectonics during the mid-late Genesis Flood. She also has an interest in Western North American tectonics research. Sarah has been an online professor for Liberty University since 2023 where she teaches “Elements of Earth Science” and “Introduction to Astronomy” courses.

Sarah has been interested in Creation science since she was a child and attended Creation conferences from ICR. She is passionate about educating people on the science that supports Genesis as a historical narrative in order to encourage people that they can trust the Bible. She lives with her husband Cameron (also a geophysicist) in Virginia where they are actively involved in ministries that encourage believers to read and know the Bible and grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Sarah’s motivation for involvement in Creation science is to equip believers with the tools needed to defend their faith and trust the Bible.
